Cabo Verde is among the most vulnerable as an 10 island archipelago in the Northern tropical region of the Atlantic.

Known as a place where hurricanes are born, the main climate vulnerabilities are not related to those but to cyclic droughts that are becoming more severe and long which alternate with episodes of intense rain that leads to floods and land slides. And these extreme events are expected to worsen their intensity and magnitude.

The Cape Verdeans are used to cope with weather adversities for long and are not yet fully aware of the increased risks brought by climate change.

To face that, the country has put in place a communication programme which aims at increasing the climate literacy from 19% to 50% and that will be shown in this side event.
