Climate action: implementation of technical training plan has begun

Technical training is one of the pillars of climate governance and action. Since climate action is an issue that cuts across all sectors and is constantly being updated, maintaining trained staff is imperative for increasing the resilience of Cape Verde, its people and its ecosystems and assets, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable segments of society, the environment and the economy.

The implementation of the Technical Training Plan for Climate Action began on March 11 in Mindelo, with the first training course for climate action trainers. This was followed by the second session in Praia from March 18 to 22. The sessions were attended by the National Directorate for the Environment, the National Directorate for Education, the National Directorate for Planning, the National Institute for Public Health, Lantuna, TAOLA+, the National Civil Protection Service and the Finance and Education Delegations.

This training of trainers course is the first in a cycle of technical training provided for in the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), which aims to increase technical skills for coordinating climate action planning and will include topics such as integrating climate action into planning and budgeting, nature-based solutions, climate-proof investment, climate finance and monitoring and evaluation of climate policy.

The courses will run until October and are supported by the Climate Action Program, implemented by the National Directorate for the Environment.
