Ação Climática AGORA celebrating

We are on vacation, but in September more than 125,000 students — representing 25% of Cabo Verde’s resident population — will once again bring life and color to our streets, kindergartens, and schools.

This year, the return to school will be a special celebration, uniting climate action and active citizenship.

The 2025/2026 Civic Week will carry the theme “AGORA in Celebration”, reinforcing the importance of shaping citizens who are aware and committed to the country’s future. To support this mission, teachers will have detailed manuals at their disposal, with clear instructions for a variety of fun activities that will significantly enhance climate and civic literacy in primary and secondary schools, as well as in kindergartens.

Theater, music, dance, poetry, slam poetry, and spoken word — the voice of climate and citizenship — will be powerful tools for starting the school year with fresh content capable of inspiring in young people the sense of responsibility and pride to act for a sustainable Cabo Verde.

We are looking forward to this moment, as we recognize the power and impact that teachers have on the community — through their students, parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and neighbors.

Together, we will make this return to school a true celebration of climate action and citizenship.
